CertainTeed is committed to ensuring that its products are responsibly manufactured. They are committed to producing products that are eco-friendly, beneficial to the community and economical for building professionals and homeowners.
If you’re looking for a roofing company that is conscientious about their carbon footprint, look for one that is authorized to provide CertainTeed products. Here’s why.
Achieving Product Sustainability
CertainTeed’s manufacturing facilities recycle water used in their plants, saving billions of gallons yearly. Their Cedarboards D6 product is composed of up to 64 percent pre- and post-consumer recycled material and is approved by the National Green Building Standard (NGBS).
The company’s polymer, vinyl and cellular PVC products are recyclable. They repurpose old siding from builders and manufactured housing plants, establishing a “cradle-to-cradle” system. CertainTeed reclaims vinyl siding by collaborating with the operations of more than 200 vinyl recycling centers in the country.
Reducing Environmental Impact
The CertainTeed Certavin resin plant is the only PVC manufacturing facility that uses a bulk polymerization process, which involves far less energy and water consumption compared to other PVC manufacturers. The company is also working on reducing landfill waste from its siding, roofing and other construction products.
Life cycle analysis (LCA) refers to the environmental impacts of a product, process or activity through its lifespan. CertainTeed is the first siding manufacturer to conduct LCAs on all of its siding products. In doing so, they found that their vinyl and polymer siding products have a lower environmental impact than most siding options.
